TENS Rental

TENS Machine Rental for Labour

Another tool for your birth toolkit.

Preparing for birth means exploring the comfort measures that might help you feel more confident during labour. A TENS machine is one option you may not have considered!

At Doula Duo Inc., we offer TENS machine rentals for expectant parents who want to explore a drug-free comfort measure, particularly during early labour at home.

What is a TENS machine?

TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. It's a small, battery-operated device that sends gentle electrical pulses through electrode pads placed on your skin, usually on your back during labour.

You control the intensity of the pulses, adjusting them to find a level that feels comfortable. The sensation is often described as a tingling or buzzing feeling.

How can a TENS machine help during labour?

It may help you cope with contractions. TENS stimulates nerves in the skin and may influence how the body processes pain signals and many people find it helpful.

You're in control. You can adjust the intensity as contractions change, use the boost function when needed, and switch the unit off whenever you choose.

You can keep moving. The portable unit allows you to walk, sway, change positions, and use other comfort measures while wearing it.

It's a drug-free option. TENS can be used as part of your comfort toolkit alongside breathing techniques, massage, movement, and support from your birth partner.

Is TENS right for you?

TENS isn't suitable for everyone. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety warnings, including restrictions on electrode placement and use around water or medical equipment. Check with your healthcare provider if you have questions about whether it's appropriate for you.

*If you plan to use your unit at your birth location, check their policies beforehand.
